Sleep Medicine
Dr. Steven Zorn is the founder of Iowa Sleep and Iowa CPAP. He is board-certified in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, and internal medicine. With over 25 years of experience in sleep medicine, Dr. Zorn believes every patient should be well-informed about their sleep conditions.
Dr. Zorn graduated from the University of Wisconsin and completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He then received an NIH research fellowship award while serving as a pulmonary fellow at Yale University Medical School.
Physician Assistant
Carol Smith joined Iowa Sleep in July 2015, bringing over 20 years of experience as a Physician Assistant (PA). She received her training at Des Moines University. Since becoming a PA, Carol has specialized in Family Practice, Urgent Care, Gastroenterology, and Women’s Health. Before her PA career, she worked as a critical care Registered Nurse (RN) in various areas, including ICU/CCU, Post-Anesthesia Recovery, Dialysis, and the Cardiac Cath Lab. Carol completed her nursing training at Santa Rosa Junior College in California.
Carol maintains her PA-C certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants by completing periodic testing and annual education requirements. She has also attended advanced medical training courses in Sleep Medicine offered by the American Association of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine, and the Institute for the Advancement of Human Behavior.
Carol’s passion for medicine began at an early age and remains vital to this day. She enjoys listening to her patients, understanding their concerns, and helping them find the solutions they need. Carol is married, has an adult daughter, and has lived in Ankeny for over 25 years.
Nurse Practitioner
Jessica joined Iowa Sleep in 2021, bringing over 20 years of nursing experience, including 5 years as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from South University, graduating with honors. Jessica has extensive experience in trauma and emergency medicine, urgent care, pulmonary medicine, and sleep medicine. She maintains her board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Jessica comes from a large family of healthcare professionals and has always been passionate about caring for others. She believes in providing patient-centered care and feels that patients who actively participate in their treatment will better understand their health and successfully manage it.
Jessica loves spending time outdoors, listening to various genres of music, and spending time with her three children, Alexandra, Tyler, and Sydney.
